Eric Boehm has been named the recipient of the 2010 Award for Successful Aging by the Center for Successful Aging. Mr. Boehm, 92, is actively involved in the Boehm Biography Group, which he founded when he was 87. The Group chronicles personal and organizational histories in books, videos and DVDs. Mr. Boehm founded ABC-CLIO, an international academic publishing company, in 1955; his late wife, Inge, was a co-founder. His sons, Ron and Steven, and grandson Jeff are involved in the family companies. Mr. Boehm is involved in various nonprofit and service organizations, travels and regularly swims. He attributes his good health and longevity to genetics: his father and great-grandfather lived to 98. The award will be presented during CSA's first fundraising event, "A Catered Savoir Affaire," on Oct. 17 at the Santa Barbara Maritime Museum. For ticket information, call 963-8080.
